Wireless Broadband Options

Many Wireless Options

There are times when wireless broadband access may be your best options, and times when it may be your only option.  Communications Link can deliver broadband access wirelessly across the street or many miles away.  You don’t have to compromise just because you don’t have landline broadband access.

  • Satellite Internet access – Satellite Systems
  • Point-to-Point Microwave – Extending the LAN
  • Broadband over Powerline - (BPL) Not yet widely deployed technology in which communications companies sometimes partner with electric utilities to bring high speed Internet to rural communities that cable has not yet reached. BPL uses technology to skip over high voltage lines to reach medium voltage lines or to detour data signals around transformers.
  • WiFi/WiMax Point-to-Multi-Point – Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax), in a fixed configuration provides 2-way, point to multi-point broadband access to homes and businesses at lower costs. WiMax radio and antenna equipment gets signals from a base station and sends the signals to equipment in the customer’s premises several miles away, even in a non-line-of-site situation, currently at data rates of approximately 40 Mbps. By comparison, WiFi provides coverage over areas measured in yards and at slower data rates.
  • Mesh Networks – Mesh networks extend high speed local are network services to a wider area, providing more robust broadband Internet coverage. Mobile units can connect to stationary participating nodes to increase the area covered.
  • Municipal Wireless – Mesh networks implemented city-wide allow firemen to monitor an incident or download a building floor plan. Police can be online all the time. Municipal mesh networks can connect municipal offices across town.

Communications Link has many options and will tailor solutions to deliver the bandwidth your company needs. One call and you can be on your way to resolving your broadband access issues.
