GPS/Cellular

GPS/Cellular asset location systems are designed to provide near real-time location data for tracking vehicles and equipment over a wide geographic area. These systems typically involve mounting a GPS unit on the vehicle or equipment that is powered by the vehicle electrical system. There are units that are designed to be mounted in plain sight, and units that are designed to be hidden on the vehicle or piece of equipment. Asset locations can be displayed and tracked on a computer screen or wall-mounted display, or put onto the data network and viewed from any location on the company network.

WLAN Based Systems

WLAN based asset location and tracking capabilities can be added to the company LAN to allow personnel and equipment to be located within a facility or campus. This can be accomplished with either active or passive RFID tags depending on whether the network is monitoring a person, a forklift, a laptop computer, or a piece of medical equipment, to name a few. Communications Link considers the structure of the network and the physical layout of the facility or campus when designing an asset tracking deployment.

Stand-Alone Dedicated Wireless Networks

Asset tracking and location can also be accomplished on a stand-alone wireless network that is deployed specifically for the asset tracking application. Such systems can be provisioned to operate on non-WLAN frequencies, including licensed bands, to improve RF propagation characteristics and reduce potential for interference from other sources.

Personal Panic Button Systems

Employees, staff, students can be issued a wireless personal panic button, similar to a car door remote, that allow a person to summon security or law enforcement immediately should the person be assaulted or feel threatened, or to help someone else who is. The wireless system can be deployed to cover a single building, portion of a building, or an entire corporate or college campus. There are versions for both licensed and unlicensed bands. Tracking for laptop computers or other equipment can be added to the same wireless system to provide better utilization or help prevent theft or misappropriation.

RFID Systems

RFID tags and readers can be implemented on an existing network or installed as a stand-alone network to monitor or control material/asset utilization, inventory, product or personnel movement/allocation to increase efficiency and reduce loss. The system can be set up to use both active and passive tags depending on business requirements. Communications Link can provide a turnkey system tailored to your business requirements, including tags, readers, network installation, and application management programs.
